Are the RCC beams found in any house simply supported or fixed, and are they continuous beams?
Behaviour of beam simply supported or fixed depends on detailing . Beam with top steel at ends helps to resist negative moment and can be called fixed beam . However if beam does not rest on column and rest on other beam then it induces torsion . That's the reason main beams could be fixed or continuous .however secondary beams are always simply supported .
Continuos beams not necessarily means continuing along a face . All beam in one line should also have almost similar span else doesn't make sense to design continuous beam . However its designers call to make continuous or simply supported .
